We recommend that you stay within Melbourne CBD if at all possible. The conference venue is in a very central CBD location, an easy walk or (free) tram ride from anywhere within the CBD.
Melbourne airport lies approximately 25km from the CBD. You can expect to pay around AU$60 for a standard taxi from the airport to the city. A much cheaper alternative is the frequent SkyBus service, which runs every ten minutes from the airport to Southern Cross station (with free hotel shuttle bus service from the station to most CBD hotels) and costs AU$18 each way.
There are many car parking options within the CBD, all of which will be expensive. Options include Wilson Parking, Secure Parking and Crown Casino.
By public transport:
Melbourne has an excellent public transport network consisting of trains, trams and buses. Within the main CBD area, tram travel is free at all times and is a great way of getting to and from the event venue, as well as exploring the city sights. If you are travelling outside of the CBD, you will need to purchase the public transport smartcard known as Myki. For more details on the public transport system, visit Public Transport Victoria. (Note that the public transport option between the airport and the city is the SkyBus service.)
